Winter Transportation

Winter Transportation in Yellowstone

During winter, most roads in Yellowstone National Park are closed to private vehicles. However, guests can enter the park through the North or Northeast entrances, which remain open year-round. The road linking these two entrances is the sole route accessible to wheeled vehicles, providing a unique winter experience where visitors can drive through the Lamar Valley and return to Mammoth Hot Springs.

To reach destinations like the Old Faithful Snow Lodge and to visit other areas of the interior of the park, visitors will need to take over-snow transportation. Twice daily snowcoaches, designed specifically for snowy terrain, run between Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel and Old Faithful Snow Lodge, offering a convenient and scenic way to travel through the park’s stunning winter landscape. If you have booked an overnight stay at Old Faithful Snow Lodge, don’t forget to book your snowcoach to and from Mammoth Hot Springs.

We also provide a daily shuttle bus from Bozeman International Airport for guests with reservations at Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel or Old Faithful Snow Lodge. This service ensures that travelers can reach the park without the need to navigate winter road conditions themselves.

Winter Airport Shuttle to/from Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport

We offer a daily shuttle (winter season only) from the Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport to and from Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel. This shuttle allows our guests to avoid the expense of renting a vehicle, while our experienced drivers handle the winter roads. See available dates and times below.
