YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK – October 28, 2014 – A trip to Yellowstone in winter has gotten easier – and more cost-effective – with the winter shuttle from Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport to the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel inside the park.

Xanterra Parks & Resorts’ Yellowstone National Park Lodges, the operator of lodging, restaurants and activities in Yellowstone, will offer the service when the only two winter lodges in the park are open. The Old Faithful Snow Lodge opens Dec. 20, 2014, and Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel opens Dec. 21. Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel will close for the season March 2, 2015, and Old Faithful Snow Lodge will close March 1, 2015.

Except for the road from Gardiner, Mont. to Cooke City, Mont. via Mammoth Hot Springs, transportation within the park is limited to snowmobiles and enclosed heated snowcoaches during the winter. Snowcoach transportation is available daily to a variety of park locations. Xanterra also offers a wide range of half- and full-day snowcoach, ski and snowshoe tours and ski and snowshoe rentals and instruction.

“We debuted the shuttle service last winter and received great customer reviews and higher than expected usage,” said Rick Hoeninghausen, director of sales and marketing for Xanterra in Yellowstone. “This service saves visitors the cost of renting a car, which will likely remain parked during their Yellowstone visit. We also heard from guests that the ability to avoid driving on winter roads was a very welcome side benefit.”

The shuttle departs Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel daily at 8:30 a.m. and arrives at the airport at 10:30 a.m. For guests remaining in Bozeman, the shuttle will drop them off at the Holiday Inn. Visitors who spent the previous night in Bozeman will board the shuttle at the Holiday Inn at 1 p.m. The shuttle will then return to the airport to pick up arrivals for a 1:45 p.m. departure back to the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel in Yellowstone.

Rates are $53.50, plus taxes and fees, each way. More information is available at https://www.yellowstonenationalparklodges.com/stay/plan/transportation/

During the winter, Xanterra offers winter packages that help visitors focus on their interests. These packages include “Lodging & Learning” packages held in cooperation with the Yellowstone Association Institute (YAI), self-guided winter “Getaway Packages” and a guided snowmobile “Adventure Package” as well as lodging and transportation options for those who want to customize their experience.  Guests who have booked a package for their Yellowstone visit can receive a special rate on the airport shuttle of $42 plus taxes and fees, each way.
